Meaning of the Garuda Bird Coat

Garuda Pancasila is the state symbol of Indonesia. This symbol was designed by Sultan Hamid II of Pontianak, later perfected by President Sukarno. Garuda represents a bird in Hindu mythology, while the basic philosophy of Pancasila is Indonesian state. Garuda Pancasila consists of three main components, namely the Bird Garuda, shields, and white ribbon.
Garuda is a mythical bird bird from Hindu mythology that comes from India and growing in parts of Indonesia since the 6th century. Garuda bird itself symbolizes of strength, while the gold color that symbolizes the eagle grandeur or greatness. Red-white national flag color symbolizes of Indonesia. Red means courage and the white means purity. Thick black line across the shield symbolizes the Indonesian region crossed by the Equator line. On an eagle, the number of feathers on each wing were 17, then numbered eight tail feathers, tail feathers at the base or below the shield 19, and the neck feathers numbered 45. Fur amounts if combined into 17-8-1945, is the date on which Indonesian independence was proclaimed.

Symbols in each shield symbolizes he precepts in Pancasila,namely:1. Star symbolizes the supreme deity sila [the precepts to-1]2. Shield

Shield symbolizes the defense is worn around Indonesia.  
In the shield they contain five symbols, each symbol represents the precepts from the basic state Pancasila.
In the middle there is a five pointed star symbol that symbolizes the first principle Pancasila, belief in one God. Intended as a star symbol light, like God, as the spiritual light to every man.While the black background color symbolizes the natural or original color, which shows that God is not just a human invention, but the source of everything and has been there before all things in this world exists.
In the bottom right there is a chain that symbolizes both the precepts of Pancasila, Just and civilized humanity. The chain is composed of chain-shaped facet four interrelated and circles in a circle. Square chain symbolizes the male, while the circle symbolizes the female. Link are interrelated also symbolizes that every human being, male and female, need each other and need to unite to become strong like a chain.
At the top right of the picture there is a banyan tree which symbolizes the third principle, The unity of Indonesia. Banyan tree banyan tree is used because the tree large where many people can take shelter under it, like all the people Indonesia can "shelter" under the auspices of the Indonesian state. In addition, the banyan tree has tendrils and roots that spread everywhere, but still comes from one tree, like the diversity of tribes who united under the name of Indonesia.
Then, on the left top is a picture that represents the bull's head the precepts fourth, People who Led by Wisdom in Wisdom Consultative / Representative. Coat bison bull is used for gregarious social animals, like deliberation in which people must gathered to discuss something.
And at the bottom left there is rice and cotton which symbolize the five precepts, Justice Social for all Indonesian people. Rice and cotton are used because it is basic needs of every human being, namely food and clothing as a key condition for achieving the prosperity that is the main goal for this fifth principle. In the shield there is a thick black line across the middle of a shield. Line represents the equator who cross through the territory of Indonesia.
Red and white colors of the setting on the shield it is Indonesia's national colors, which is also the color on the flag of Indonesia. Red color symbolizes bravery, while white symbolizes purity. 

Ribbon and State Motto

At the bottom of the Garuda Pancasila, which have gripped the white ribbon, that reads "Unity in Diversity" which was written with the Latin alphabet, which is the motto Indonesian state. Unity in Diversity is the word of words in the ancient Javanese language which means "Bhineka Tunggal Ika." These words were taken from Mpu Tantular (Sutasoma essay, a poet from the kingdom of Majapahit in the second century14). Words that describe the unity and integrity of Indonesia's Nusa and Nation consists of many islands, race, tribe, nation, customs, culture, language and religion.
